LifeSongs was inspired by Suzanne Lyon, a retired eldercare professional working with older adults for over 12 years. Suzanne has seen the very real response to different kinds of therapies used to entertain, stimulate and bring vitality within reach for many older adults, whether in their own homes or a facility.
Promoting brain health and helping people with memory loss is her daily priority as a memory care director for a national assisted living company. Her main goal is developing meaningful activities that respect the individual and inspire everyone to participate. Her experience, confirmed by research, has shown that using music along with other sensory prompts literally brings people to life. This led to infusing music into many daily activities. It has also led to the development of tools such as the LifeSongs recordable memory book that can be useful to anyone, but especially helpful for caregivers dealing with issues of dementia.
